I am a lover of rainbows.

I came across this truly remarkable image today (2nd October) released on the NASA APOD page showing a rare scene supernumerary rainbows, only this time capturing 5, yes, 5 rainbows observed over Jersey Shore, New Jersey, USA.  The ‘bows were created as an aftermath of hurricane Florence last week.

      Here it is:-  https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap181002.html

You really pick out the most wonderful ones from the APOD’s Laurence. How wonderful!

I once saw a number of distinct supernumeraries (but less than 5 I suppose) when tiny drizzles of rain started to fall with the sun behind. The raindrops must be very small to make them appear so the circumstances were right. Wish I had something with me to capture it, but I had not even a phone with me. I just keep this memory alive.

      Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Keelin & Hans

It gladdens me much you found my posting both enjoyable and informative.

In all my life of some 65 years I’ve never ever seen anything like this.  This is an example of the eternal wonder of clouds which is devilishly and enticingly attractive!

      Best wishes, as ever.

      Laurence
