Asperitas is a relatively rare formation that seems to form in the vicinity of Cumulonimbus storm systems. Asperitas differs from undulatus by the fact that its waves are more chaotic and disorderly, lacking any of the regularity and organisation typical of undulatus. This classic example of asperitas was spotted over Northern California, US.
