Gregory Coster (Member 64,297) spotted Altocumulus stratiformis undulatus radiatus lacunosus clouds over DeWitt Lake in Ulster County, New York, US. The long name of this formation reflects the multitude of patterns on display. These are clumpy, upper mid-level clouds (Altocumulus) spread across much of the sky (stratiformis) with ribbed, wavelike patterns (undulatus) arranged into long bands that appear to radiate from horizon (radiatus) and, in places, show lacelike patterns of holes (lacunosus). Such a warp and weft of forms made for a cloud of woven texture that was reproduced by the reflections of the still lake surface below.
