On a 50th birthday trip to Iceland, Dr. Cara Courage (Member 61,459) drove in the dark through thick fog on her way to Snæfellsnes, a westward-extending peninsula north-west of Reykjavik. The journey was treacherous, for Cara could barely see in front of the Jeep. As they persevered through the challenging conditions, she and her travel companion embraced the Icelandic expression þetta reddast, which roughly translates to ‘it will all work out’.
And so it did. The next morning, Cara was treated to a birthday surprise from their hotel on a lava field near Snæfellsjökull National Park. In the pink morning light, Stratus clouds draped over the crags like blankets and a jumble of Cumulus fractus and Stratocumulus sailed overhead.
