The Hardy Monument on the summit of Black Down near Portesham, Dorset, England was built in 1844 as a monument to Vice Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy, the flag captain of Admiral Lord Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar. Apparently, the monument is built to resemble the type of telescope Admiral Hardy would have used at sea. But this patch of Altocumulus undulatus billowing above made it look more like a chimney to Alison Durant (Member 64,272).
