Created by artists Daniel Mihalyo and Annie Han, aka Lead Pencil Studio, Non-Sign II is a sculpture in Blaine, Washington, US that frames the sky. On a stretch of Interstate 5 near the US-Canada border, it is like a billboard advertisement – but one that draws drivers’ attentions towards nature.

‘I see it whenever I cross the border,’ said Daphne Harwood (Member 64,963), ‘and I finally Googled the sculpture to find out what it is.’ Constructed in 2010, Non-Sign II is made of thousands of stainless-steel rods welded together. ‘This view was at sunrise on New Year’s Eve,’ said Daphne. ‘We were on our way to celebrate 2026 with family.’ The sculpture that morning was advertising a unique blend of Altocumulus and Cirrus.
