Fallstreak Hole (Cavum), which occurs when supercooled water droplets freeze, creating ice crystals that become heavy and fall below as virga. This classic example was spotted over Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia.

Hi Nicholas!
Following up on your dramatic photo I came across this marvellous photo of a huge water spout published just a few days ago on NASA’s “Astronomy Picture Of the Day” (APOD) website. Although APOD covers astronomical subjects it does include a lot of Earth bound subjects too, including clouds. Have a look at this water spout – it is quite incredible!
