One evening, Mark Feldman (Member 50,239) stepped outside in Arcata, California, US to find the Moon peering back at him through a monocle. Well, actually, that ring around the Moon was a 22-degree halo formed when some of the Moon’s light was refracted as it passed through a haze of hexagonal ice crystals in Cirrostratus nebulosus clouds. Mark was joined by a redwood tree to his left and a eucalyptus tree to his right, all three leaning in for a good view of the ethereal phenomenon.
