Suzy thought, “the circumzenithal arc (cloud smile), lines up nicely with the Grecian mask, held by the muse of theatre on top of the Clarendon building, Oxford, UK”.

Thanks for your comments – I ran half way across Oxford to line up this shot!
I was in the meadow of Christ Church College when I spotted a faint circumhorizon arc, followed by a bright parhelic circle cutting through a sundog. That’s when I started heading for the town centre to see if I could line up the optical effects behind the dome of the Radcliffe Camera. By the time I got there, the sundogs had gone, but this 22-degree halo and upper tangent arc had appeared. The whole thing lasted less than ten minutes, so I was glad I rushed for it!

this reminds me a cloud scene i once saw.
two huge clouds, like the heads of angry old men, were slowly advancing towards one other from opposite ends of the horizon. puffy cloud beards trailing in their angry advance. their open mouths screaming some kind of windy battlecry.
    it was awesome.

it was the very last flight i ever took without a camera for carry-on luggage.
