So this is for real! I thought it was a myth! I wonder if it’s also true that the green flash signifies a soul returning from the dead? (from the last “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie)

I am happy to go with mine and your conclusions Steve, it is more distinct on the full size image….This really is an amazing capture as the phenomena does only last for one or two seconds and is notoriously difficult to capture on camera, well done again, and a first for CAS I believe…….Well spotted….Ian L…….P.G.E.

Comment from Steve Cooke, the photographer. I have to own up to this being entirely accidental. I noticed the green flash, such as it is, only after I looked at the photos on my PC. I wasn’t sure whether it was a product of wishful thinking, a mis-converged monitor, or too much beer.

Well done, a nice shot of a phenomena few people see. Saw one of the best examples I’ve seen, here in Jersey on 7 July — emerald green and held for about 1 second – unfortunately didn’t get a photo of it
