‘Afterglow’ from Falmouth, Cornwall UK. The cause of some spectacular sunsets in February 2008 apparently, was an unusually cold stratosphere above the UK. These conditions allowed a type one polar stratospheric cloud to form (a thin veil of tiny ice crystals). Thanks Mike for the information, and for more discussion on this subject……
