    Thank you Don! I had the exact same question pop into my head when I read Saturday’s CAD. I’m curious to hear more on this as I too thought it was Stratocumulus.

    Hi Kat! Nice cloud spotting. I’ve only recently been learning about cloud classification, so no expert here, but its possible those dangly grey clouds are “scud clouds” (my current favorite phrase :)) and not virga. Curious to hear more people chime in.

    Thanks Michael! It didn’t occur to me that it could be undulatus since it was so close to the ground. As this system moved across our area, it had been nimbostratus for much of the day. Shortly before this I also spotted mammatus.

    Hi All, Shannon again. :) I think I may have answered my own question through researching (not sure how to edit the original post, so I’ll just reply here). Please correct me if I’m wrong! But, I think they can be called Altocumulus Floccus because they have the little raggedy edges?
