The book “La veille du ciel” is fantastic. The summary :

Every day, from 1912 to 1951, André des Gachons, a symbolist illustrator and amateur meteorologist, observed and reproduced the state of the sky and its variations, composing a unique work rich in about 9 000 drawings and watercolors, the vast majority of which have now disappeared.
La Veille du ciel gathers more than 200 plates, drawings and documents kept at Météo-France, the National Archives and private collections.
