CNN meteorologist Taylor Ward said most of the damage appeared to come from strong straight-line winds, with gusts measuring 101 kph (63 mph).
Paul Simons, Weather Eye, The Times (UK), 31MAY2017, said “However, there appears to have been no thunder, lightning, rain or hail. It was, in fact, a severe squall line, a narrow band of violent winds along a cold weather front”.
