Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks to tell apart pannus clouds and stratus fractus clouds or a clear definition of both clouds. What makes one cloud different to the other. Thanks

Hello John, to me pannus and Stratus fractus look alike. The difference is only in the definition according to the International Cloud Atlas. Stratus fractus is a species of Stratus. Pannus is an accessory cloud that can accompany Altostratus, Nimbostratus, Cumulus and last but not least Cumulonimbus. In appearance I see no difference.
