I wish to float this idea and would be interested in other CAS members views.
The Society is now running as a business. Its membership is truly international. I suggest the Cloud Appreciation Society should change its name to Cloud Appreciation Society International.
Membership, as said above, is international so I think the Society’s name should perhaps reflect the same. Also, clouds are global and know no international boundaries. Also, what about coverage of clouds on the planets?
Thoughts, comments and views invited.

Laurence, you are full of bright ideas, but this is definitely a non-runner. CASI sounds exactly like the English slang word ‘khasi’ (q.v.).
However, I would not be in favour, anyway for several reasons
– the KISS principle
– ‘International’ would not add value, it would be redundant, really and suggestive of that boundary which you are against
– it would not help your extra-planetary interests
– the cost of change would be significant in more than monetary ways

Thanks for this, Laurence.
It is an interesting idea, but CAS has always been an international organisation. We had members in Australia, Europe and the US from very early on. I think that introducing ‘International’ into the name might be a little confusing, since it would imply that we are making some sort of change to the Society. Also, an even longer a name does begin to sound rather a mouthful.
We have been doing some Cloud a Days about formations on other planets recently, so maybe we should be the Interplanetary Cloud Appreciation Society!

Or maybe the Interplanetary Cloud Enthusiasts Society?

International…??…My Goodness,,Way Too Small Thinking Here.. I’ve observed clouds measuring Light Years Across ! Planetary! HAA! Clouds So dense Light can’t even make it thru all the better for birthing thousands of suns . Even “Universe” seems just a Tad. Cloud Appreciation..infers All types of Cloud..with Scale, left undetermined and infinite…imho.
