ParticipantI’d like to propose starting a new thread.
As there is a strong relationship between the land and the sky let’s see your pictures that feature the two in equal measure. Bodies of water will also count as a land element.
It’ll be interesting to see what you come up with.
To get things started here is my offering for #1.

Land and Sky is not dissimilar to my Cloudscape topic which I introduced as a combination of Cloud and Landscape. So I am with you in spirit Duncan. Good Luck with this topic to you and your pussycat.

ParticipantRuth first out the starting gate. Good job. Yes, I know technically you’re second, but I’m not counting my ice-breaker.
Now that I think of it, I should have named the thread Land, Sea and Sky, as all three are so inextricably linked.

ParticipantDuncan, this thread is a nice imitative. I think the fence on your picture will not stop what’s coming. It is a great composition imo. And Ruth is right, we have to give the land a bit more exposure for this thread. I therefore have to search for land and sky image, since I prefer – until now – to picture details of only clouds or views with mainly clouds. This is one I found to make a start with on this new topic.

Next one was taken just a moment before the former one.

ParticipantKeelin,
I have mixed feelings about this one. The melancholy from the hard metallic foreground is countered by the soft pillowy texture of the clouds. I am drawn to the sea, but my soul wants to drift amongst the clouds.
Hopefully, we’ll see some inspired images in future posts.

Patricia L Keelin
ParticipantYou’re so right, Ruth, and your Flowers Too is a fine example.
Duncan, I am drawn as well to the sea and love it in any of its moods. One of my sisters lives in Santa Cruz and I never see the same sea hue twice in a row whenever I visit her. You captured a dazzling river of light wiggling its way to the sea and beyond.
Hans, I know you must also share an affinity for the sea. I love the tiny accent of that lone seabird in Some Delay. And the windswept grasses on the dunes adds yet another felt dimension to your second posted photo here.
While I haven’t many images that fit well into this new topic yet, here is one from the archives. Another quietly moody shot, but as I recall, not at all a match for my own mood in the moment it was taken.

ParticipantNice thread, I believe glider flying, when you are alone without an engine, you get to learn how strong can be the bond between land and sky, to appreciate how deeply the land influences the sky, that literally keeps you up. Here a shot taken in the South of Italy, late December 2021.
