January 18, 2022 at 11:47 am #519320 Duncan BulmanParticipant Duncan BulmanParticipantI’d like to propose starting a new thread. As there is a strong relationship between the land and the sky let’s see your pictures that feature the two in equal measure. Bodies of water will also count as a land element. It’ll be interesting to see what you come up with. To get things started here is my offering for #1.
-
January 18, 2022 at 3:16 pm #519369Howard Brown Participanthttps://www.facebook.com/BBCNW/videos/307645127997121/ Land and Sky is not dissimilar to my Cloudscape topic which I introduced as a combination of Cloud and Landscape. So I am with you in spirit Duncan. Good Luck with this topic to you and your pussycat. hygge
-
January 18, 2022 at 8:29 pm #519430 Ruth QuistParticipant Ruth QuistParticipantDuncan, I am happy to throw in #2 to your proposed thread. Now I won’t crop off the land so much. Cowboy Country
-
January 18, 2022 at 9:40 pm #519444 Duncan BulmanParticipant Duncan BulmanParticipantRuth first out the starting gate. Good job. Yes, I know technically you’re second, but I’m not counting my ice-breaker. Now that I think of it, I should have named the thread Land, Sea and Sky, as all three are so inextricably linked.
-
January 18, 2022 at 9:41 pm #519446 Hans StockerParticipant Hans StockerParticipantDuncan, this thread is a nice imitative. I think the fence on your picture will not stop what’s coming. It is a great composition imo. And Ruth is right, we have to give the land a bit more exposure for this thread. I therefore have to search for land and sky image, since I prefer – until now – to picture details of only clouds or views with mainly clouds. This is one I found to make a start with on this new topic.
 Some Delay?-
January 18, 2022 at 9:50 pm #519451 Duncan BulmanParticipant Duncan BulmanParticipantHans, good choice. Although there’s very little in the image there is a lot going on.

-
-
January 19, 2022 at 10:11 pm #519571 Hans StockerParticipant Hans StockerParticipantThanks Duncan. I hope you understood that I meant “initiative” and not imitative. I have to blame the stupid spellchecker. Next one was taken just a moment before the former one. -

Love the fresh breath that comes with seeing these beautiful first images here from you and Ruth and Hans. Such a great sense of space in each photo. Santa Cruz Bay, Early Morning Santa Cruz Bay, Early Morning-
January 21, 2022 at 5:23 pm #519792 Duncan BulmanParticipant Duncan BulmanParticipantKeelin, I have mixed feelings about this one. The melancholy from the hard metallic foreground is countered by the soft pillowy texture of the clouds. I am drawn to the sea, but my soul wants to drift amongst the clouds. Hopefully, we’ll see some inspired images in future posts.
-
January 21, 2022 at 11:34 pm #519836 Hans StockerParticipant Hans StockerParticipantI’ve seen already inspired images in the former posts. I love the Santa Cruz Bay, Early Morning Keelin. A great view over water and sky.

-
January 22, 2022 at 1:11 am #519838 Patricia L KeelinParticipant Patricia L KeelinParticipantYou’re so right, Ruth, and your Flowers Too is a fine example. Duncan, I am drawn as well to the sea and love it in any of its moods. One of my sisters lives in Santa Cruz and I never see the same sea hue twice in a row whenever I visit her. You captured a dazzling river of light wiggling its way to the sea and beyond. Hans, I know you must also share an affinity for the sea. I love the tiny accent of that lone seabird in Some Delay. And the windswept grasses on the dunes adds yet another felt dimension to your second posted photo here. While I haven’t many images that fit well into this new topic yet, here is one from the archives. Another quietly moody shot, but as I recall, not at all a match for my own mood in the moment it was taken. Clouded Sky, Textured Sea Clouded Sky, Textured Sea

Here a shot taken in the South of Italy, late December 2021.
