A recent morning gave me a strange view. North of my backyard a thin field of large pancake like Altocumulus Strat Perlucidus formed out of the morning sky . As it seemed to mature into a mundane patch it drifted south . At some point of entering Phoenix It began to rapidly deteriorate. I suspect rising columns of hot air ravaged the condensation back to gas and was gone. What that sculpturing process created, I was able to capture though. The whole field, was gone, evaporated, within half an hour.

Top notch cloudspotting, MikeL. Well done and many thanks.

A fortiori, it has been a while since we got formal cloud types (I always hope for more) let alone species and variety and photo to match. Terrific.

Thanks hygge, This photo below demonstrates the transition from the original strong formation to the weaker manifestation so well ,I’ll name in your honor, ” Hygge Fortiori” . From left , northwest, to right, east south east you can see the transition, deteriorating, and the thinness of the blanket as well. The size of the field perhaps 2 miles by 3 miles seemed rather odd; I’m use to big fields of altcu str. So the event was a bit unique in many ways and reminded me how the mundane can evolve into something special.
