Ruth’s lovely comment and Memories by Hans, with its dedication to good old times, brought a nostalgic close to a vibrant Volume VIII (more than worthy of a stroll down memory lane!). Onward we go! All are warmly welcomed to join in weaving a new volume of colorful, good times.

Yes Ruth nothing but a grey brown haze for a week or so now, can barely make out clouds through the haze.Really disgusting, frustrating, and unhealthy. Satellite shots show what a complete catastrophe the West has become. Since there is such a thing it should be called a pirrostratus.   Anyway..in hopes for at least some clearer sky..

Lovely composition in your stage-lit scene, Ruth. That hint of green in the foreground foliage is a nice touch.

And lots of energetic action in #906, Michael. You’ve done your usual magic with the grays and contrasts in it.

Hans, your watercolor could even be a scene from underwater. I can imagine swimming just above the bottom of a white sandy riverbed. Every time I gaze at it, I begin to feel like a trout—in a good way. ;) Maybe it helps to be a Pisces?

Last week there were a few days of very welcomed clear air here, though not many clouds. Still, it was a joy to go for walks in the neighborhood and catch those few that were passing through, like the one below. Unfortunately, just this morning, a new fire lit up about 20 miles away (Glass Fire, northeast of St. Helena), so we’re back to keeping a close eye on where that one will head.

Love The Blue Hour (and clever title), Hans. And is that Billy peeking out on the left?

In the photo below, I count 23 crows. There a few ways to break this number down with some of their symbolic associations—not that I’m at all into numerology or even from the numerical (as in math science) end of the campus. That said, we could be looking at 5(a Fibonacci number) x 2(a major change for the better) + 10(a time of joyful bliss +3(a celebration). In conclusion, I would guess your guess is correct, Hans. Spirits soaring!

Ruth, It is such a strange scenery you captured with this Man in Bucket Waiting For The Sun. What is going on there? I suppose and hope a warm Duet will chase the cold for the Man in Bucket.

Thanks for liking my Blue Hour, Ruth and Keelin. I did not notice Billy myself in The Blue Hour Keelin, but once seen….. Anyway the blues in the clouds were amazing on that evening. Here is another one.

One of the neat benefits of Adobe Lightroom is the  “crop” function includes an overlay of the Fibonacci spiral..and is  changeable  to apply in all the 4 quadrants and can be compressed or stretched. This feature helps for putting the brightest and or center of attention where the eye is naturally prone to go.  I use the overlay religiously.

Love all of the shots, everyone! #931 is one of my favorites while Hans, your contrast between sunset in the background and the greyer foreground is just wonderful. Keelin and Ruth’s winter photos both left me feeling a bit chilly, yet mesmerized.

Wonderful photos above from above, Hans. Michael, Ruth, Gregory!

One night prior to the greatly anticipated conjunction of Saturn+Jupiter 2020, this cloud fellow was apparently already waiting and ready for a kiss. Actually hadn’t noticed him until I downloaded the photo.

What a lovely picture Keelin. I read yours and Michaels wishes in the Optical Phenomena Volume IV and wanted to answer there but for some uncomprehensible reason I consistently get an error when I try to post in that thread. It is a bit frustrating because I just wanted to answer Les Cowley as well, but I fear that one has to wait until the issue is solved.

Anyway …  I like to  repeat Michael’s wishes in that thread but I can’t do it any better than you did Keelin. Yet I have to repeat some of it over here. Gratitude to everyone for all the lovely contributions and I am looking out for more moments of magical wonderment in this and other threads (partially quoting Keelin).

Keelin’s kiss and Hans’s Red and Blue are looking like a fine way to wave hello to 2021.  Though I know clouds don’t understand what a crazy year 2020 has been for all of us, good thing.  But haven’t they been so supportive to helping us cope.P1060991 (2) A Breakthrough

Michael, nice capture of clouds in 932 and 933.  Some waves here and there too.  P1060091 (2)Moon Burn

Thank you, Hans, for compliments and well wishes, and for your dramatic Red And Blue. Interesting to find similar colors in a completely different and lovely layout in Ruth’s Breakthrough, while Michael and Gregory add nicely to the collection.

Great composition in #935 Michael. It surely looks like an exotic fish setting up its crest.

Thanks Han! It was a strange shoot. Cumulus getting blown apart by winds that also created  veil and pileus. Another shot below shows the  wild physics of the event.

Yes wild physics indeed Michael. The changes are often too fast when you don’t have your camera at hand. Nice pileus.

The trees seem to climb your Cloud Walls Keelin. Nice view.
