Patricia L KeelinParticipantThank you, Michael, for a perfect Pileus to launch Vol XVIII!
And Ruth, always happy to see those blues.
Yesterday morning’s surprise was FOG! A rare visitor here. I took an early walk eager to see what was barely there to be seen.

Michael LerchParticipantAs I recall , some wind Ruth. It stayed west in its path to the north. Saw your beam in the Gallery and now this…with snow. You had some fun!

Ruth QuistParticipantAnother nice one Michael #184. The sky is treating you well.
May be a Velum?

-
November 6, 2025 at 3:17 am #667289
Michael LerchParticipantNeat shot Ruth.! Probably some left over cumulus or stratus rather than velum..Velum is usually smooth, sheet like. Velum is made by a cloud so it usually is close to the surface of a cloud

Alvar Jolin-LombardiniParticipant
Very nice hat cloud, Michael!
Here are some clouds from this morning over the Netherlands. My guess would be cirrus fibratus but I’m not sure.
-
November 10, 2025 at 3:14 am #667672
Michael LerchParticipantThank you Alvar. There is undulatus in there with the fibratus indicating winds going in all different directions high up. System coming in!
