Could someone quickly confirm something about the cloud app. I have submitted a few pictures of clouds above and around my house. One came back as verified, so i sent others, and they are still classed as “not verified”. Does this mean they are not correct?, or are they are still in the system waiting to be checked?Maybe rather than verified, it could say “pending”,. I know its a small thing, but it does give me a little lift if i get one right.Have a wonderful day everyone!, the sky at the moment is full of clouds against a blue background……stunning.

Jim, that means that the moderators decided that those were not clear examples of the clouds that you submitted them as. When a submission is in the pending state, you’ll see the thumbnail is dimmed with a clock icon over it. Once it has been looked at by a moderator, it is no longer dimmed. It’s is shown as ‘Unverified’ if the moderator judged that it isn’t clearly an example of the cloud. Remember, in many cases, it it hard for the moderators to be sure from a small photo. For instance, the distinctions are blurry between clouds like a low clumpy layer called Stratocumulus, a mid-level clumpy layer called Altocumulus and a high clumpy layer called Cirrocumulus. So it is a matter of judgement. Over time, as you get used to what does and doesn’t get through, you will naturally spot examples that are unequivocal. Because the decisions tend to be open to debate, we prefer to say ‘unverified’ rather than ‘incorrect’.
