-
November 18, 2024 at 11:05 pm #625487 Gregory VenarskyParticipant Gregory VenarskyParticipantI agree. It may be a bit hard to get a good snapshot of Christmas in B&W, however, what better way to have a Christmas than with snow! White Mountain Christmas

-
January 12, 2025 at 8:07 pm #632423 Patricia L KeelinParticipant Patricia L KeelinParticipantLove the calming smoothness of Smooth, Hans. And thank you, yes, Napa is far north of the surreal, devastation happening in LA. It is truly catastrophic. If only tears could drench those wild winded fires for our southern neighbors/friends. Empathy and Embers
-
January 18, 2025 at 2:03 am #632951 Michael LerchParticipant Michael LerchParticipantBeyond tragic scene in Los Angeles. Makes us all wonder about fire conditions around our own town. Keelin the undulatus shot was made possible with a zoom telephoto lens. A fair amount of , compression of space, takes place with a telephoto lens. The alignment of the undulatus with the background is what made me take the shot. So I got a lot of undulatus and a simpler background with lighting that made it all possible. Below is another shot , zoomed in on an area, that shows diminishing undulatus the closer you get to the bottom right. Hans your pic reminds me of the olde Cadillac tail fins on their 50’s era models! Arizona B&W#2405 -

October 16, 2025 at 10:51 pm #664263 Hans StockerParticipant Hans StockerParticipantKeelin, your ‘Dust Worm’ intrigues me after the dust bunnies by Ruth took over. You keep amazing me Michael, especially with ArizonaB&W#2436 with its lightness. What a great thread this is. The Skeleton Of A Cloud?
-
October 20, 2025 at 12:06 am #664786 Patricia L KeelinParticipant Patricia L KeelinParticipantMichael, #2438 has a dramatic vortex pull. It sets my mind to wandering where it will go. And Hans, you know I can’t help seeing things as they aren’t. So I had to smile at your lovely Skeleton of a Cloud as it morphed into a toothbrush and feathered floss. Here, I offer some troubled teeth with long roots that could have used better hygiene.
-
October 20, 2025 at 12:08 am #664787 Patricia L KeelinParticipant Patricia L KeelinParticipantAnd one more for the spooky season… Something Winking This Way Comes
-
October 21, 2025 at 10:17 pm #665055 Hans StockerParticipant Hans StockerParticipantThe troubled teeth made me laugh, Keelin. But then the creature in ‘Something Winking This Way Comes’ made my smile freeze. Not for long since it is a beauty of a monster. Wow. Bat Out Of Heaven?
-
October 25, 2025 at 5:03 am #665506 Michael LerchParticipant Michael LerchParticipantHeres a contribution to the frightful.. Arizona B&W#2439
-
October 26, 2025 at 10:13 pm #665715 Patricia L KeelinParticipant Patricia L KeelinParticipantHans, your Bat Out Of Heaven is a mysterious floating beauty. (So glad you didn’t title it Lost Tooth!) And Michael, that is positively frightful! I may have spotted its cousin… It Followed Me Home
-
October 27, 2025 at 3:43 am #665745 Michael LerchParticipant Michael LerchParticipantKeelin, Every time I scroll that picture up, the dog starts barking..and I don’t even have a dog! Arizona B&W#2440
-
October 28, 2025 at 12:26 am #665888 Patricia L KeelinParticipant Patricia L KeelinParticipantOh dear Michael! And every time I scroll to re-read your comment, I start laughing at how funny it is. I hope the hair of the dog you don’t have isn’t standing on end. Meanwhile, your #2440 is exceptional! I still find cirrocumulus the hardest of all clouds to capture well. And yet you always manage it. Hair Of The Dog
-
October 28, 2025 at 3:26 am #665897 Michael LerchParticipant Michael LerchParticipantThanks Keelin. Cirrocumulus does’t often make it into the valley but when it does, I try to have as much fun as with it as I can. When it does show up it doesn’t hang around for long…I like to slightly underexpose,( 1/3 f stop) when shooting them ,especially during the mid day.. Arizona B&W# 2441
