ParticipantThanks for the great launch, Michael, and I surely agree with Hans on #243 (near the end of Volume XX). What a splendid play of light and shadow. And #212 above really pops!
Hans, Between the Lines makes me smile. Those clouds look to be having fun gliding along at a good speed. And after seeing your beautiful Coral that closed volume XX, and your latest which reminds me of maybe an invasion of ocean jellies, I dove down into the archives here and discovered a photo from a couple of years ago. It was just a tiny bit of cloudy sky, and by the time I enlarged it to take a closer look, it too could have come from the sea.

ParticipantRuth, Puff and It’s Gone ~~ Yes, but it shall not be forgotten now that we can see it time and again thanks to your timely capture.
Michael, could your #216 be someone with their head in the clouds? A clever portrait! Also very drawn to #215 for its play of light and shadow.
And thanks, Hans! And I believe I can hear the sweet music of your Celestial Harp. And Let It Snow is a bright visual celebration on these hot summer days.
This one reminds me of a wave coming in on rain specked sand at the shoreline—with a Ruth title inspiration. ;)

ParticipantOh these are all such fun!
Love the splashiness of #220, Michael, and the floating feelings in #219 and 221.
Ruth, you Snail’s Pace gave me the giggles. As did your Hangover, Hans. Both so cleverly titled.
And now we go from a Big Glob to another big glob or what might look to some like the figure of a woman being blown away by a big wind. This is what can happen when your hat and coat are made of just tooooo many feathers.

ParticipantWell, I am sure what I think about “Not Sure What To Think About This”, Keelin. It is a beauty and I a cockatoo with a twig in its beak. Love it!
Number #223 is true abstract art, Michael, and I like to repeat the great sounding combination of words Keelin used for Hooked by Ruth: it gives a falling feeling.Floating, Not Falling

ParticipantThanks, Hans! I didn’t see the cockatoo until you mentioned it, and it made me smile to find it too.
Front and Center also brought a smile, Ruth. Love the sketchy feel of it.
And Michael, great energy captured in your latest!
Now, back to Hans, Fractional is very intriguing. I keep seeing things in it that are delightfully surreal.
Hot here today (111˚) and not much better predicted for the rest of this week. We could use some rain clouds and…

ParticipantThanks, Michael! I’m still using my iPhone 11Pro, so it must be the clouds themselves that deserve the credit.
There is a sense of poetry to your #231 that is very appealing.
The photo below reminds me of the new season—like leaves falling, rain and wind.

ParticipantHeavy sky there, Ruth! Love the sweep of shapes — and the funny (tasty) title.
Michael, is that bit of glow in #232 the being moon shy? I keep lingering on the image, almost expecting its emergence. Perhaps it’s because the clouds below look to be in motion. It is fooling my eye!
The Layered Look
PS: Thanks, Ruth re Gallery posting. Oddly, I didn’t see it appear there until several days after it was apparently added. :? I’ve noticed that type of delay since the format changed awhile ago. Be that as it may, it’s always fun to see a favorite shared there!
-
October 12, 2022 at 7:06 am #550668
Michael Lerch
ParticipantThere is a implied motion , maybe a lot, in that shot Keelin. I shot that in High Contrast mode as with #231 and #227 The high contrast looses detail in blacks and highlites but pops the remaining greys out. As you say , the eye gets pulled in from below and is invited to leave by a radiating top. Lots of fun in your Layered Look!

ParticipantYes, sometimes the high contrast makes the drama… well, more dramatic. That said, you’ve always shown a keen eye, Michael, for making the most of those subtle gray tones.
Now something seasonal this way comes… Halloween!

Fanning Out
-
October 30, 2022 at 12:46 am #553022
Patricia L Keelin
ParticipantYes, indeed, Ruth, it’s time for the clouds to bring it with Halloween approaching. I see they’re gathering in Crevices and Fanning Out!
And I’d avoid that wonderfully strange formation in #235, Michael. Although, if it produced #236/7, it looks like it might have something poetic to say. Love those soft lines and the splashy drama of 238!
Not sure what this is either, but I think I’ll stay away from it too.

Michael Lerch
ParticipantThanks Hans. Funny thing is when the undulatus was over head it didn’t even draw the need to be photographed. But when the field hit the hills the winds had their way, lots of unsettled choppy winds just tore the undulatus apart. Holmboe? heck yea! Lucky i had the camera programed for high contrast B&W . Also the lens was almost at the end of its reach..You are correct, much reverence in seeing and being able to photograph such a unique occurrence…You are getting up close as well in Details. such a fine sculpture!

ParticipantThanks Michael and it is great to read you have seen the Holmboe develop from undulatus. Great images. Clouds can develop in such a surprising way.
Now that you pointed it out Keelin, I can see the devil too in the Details. Now I realize that it would also fit in your Halloween series. Maybe Made For Each Other? Yes a good eye as Michael himself must have too to spot what’s on #242. Very feathery and light.
I tried to leave out any devil in next details but I am not absolutely sure I succeeded. I may be sure after a thorough inspection by Keelin. I look forward to it.
