Since I hijacked the end of volume XIX I might as well be the one to start the next volume.

So…something subtle to get the ball rolling.

Wow, Volume XX is there. Thanks for starting it Duncan. You must know Michael once started the first volume not even with a number. At the end of this new volume there must be posted about 20 times 100 B&W’s (maybe a bit less because of textual posts) = 2.000 B&W’s. And among them great masterpieces of abstract art of which Stieglitz could have been proud. Just to be continued after a great start with the play of lines by Duncan and the B&W cloudscape #201 by Michael.

Someone once told me it’s not a true B&W if it doesn’t have pure white and black.  Otherwise, it’s just monochrome in grey.

      So here’s my offering.

Wonderful recent additions from all of you!

Duncan, that’s a gorgeous skyscape you’ve captured in 50 shades. And Ruth, I never get my fill of your tranquil vistas over land or water. Michael, fantastical things seem to bloom above your head. Lucky for us, you keep your camera within reach. And same is true for you, Hans. I see both the Horse Head and a soap-bubbly rabbit heading in the opposite direction! Also love the joyful reach in Mirrored Patterns.

As for Sticky or Burning? A wonderfully intriguing photo, Hans! And a good question. If it’s not too much of either, it might make a nice home for some underwater creature.

Below is one I think would find it attractive. It reminds me of another I spotted and posted almost exactly two years ago (further below). A relative perhaps?

Hi Hans! I had trouble uploading photos on the updated site as well — until Ruth kindly gave guidance: Click the usual icon for inserting an image, then hover over the cropped writing on the right. A window should open where you can search your files for the photo you want to upload. I look forward as always to seeing your wonderful photos and reading your ever clever captions.

PS: Regarding the suggestion above: After clicking on the usual icon for inserting an image, now I think you can just click on the cropped writing that pops up. A window should then open allowing you to search through your files for the photo you want to upload.

Wow, Michael, #235 is a remarkable photo! Something about the movement you’ve captured there is suggesting to my mind a musical passage which is building in rhymic intensity.

I must agree with Ruth and Hans on the beauty of #235, Michael. That said, your comment verifies how images can evoke a variety emotions for each viewer. I hope the sadness will fade like fog.

And surely, Hans, your fantastically Strange Two-Eared friend could have come from the abyssal depths! It reminds me of the amazingly real creatures written about in The Book of Barely Imagined Beings by Caspar Henderson (a remarkable read!). It leads one to wonder: How deep is the sky?

Nice work everybody. Clouds allow us to connect on different levels. My sadness is in the headlines here in America. Thanks to the English for the clouds and being lifted up today!

Let the clouds cheer you up Michael. Unfortunately there is lot to be sad about nowadays.

i checked the book The Book of Barely Imagined Beings by Caspar Henderson. Seems to be fantastic and this one reminds of The Deep by Claire Nouvian. It is amazing what strange forms creature can have underneath your marvelous Abyssal Depth.

No creature here but a B&W cloudscape.

Not so sure about there not being a creature there, Hans. My mind has stretched your B&Wcloudscape into something akin to a child’s drawing of a dragonfly.

Michael, I like to look at #237 & #238 side-by-side and see how the negative shapes have shifted. There’s fun there too!

Yes Keelin, that set began  with 236 ending with a settled 239 below. I shot pre-programmed  high contrast B&W at an equivalent of  a 50 asa. As you observed I just sat back and watched it evolve ,photographing what I liked . You caught the light well in Faux Fur, where winds are the brushstrokes of cloud!

Thanks, Michael! Seeing your series is like being right there, watching subtle changes take place. The high contrast gives a great sense of depth and layering.

A nice series above of shifting shapes Michael.

I like the taste of your Espresso, Keelin. And you are right that there is a dragonfly in what I thought to be a creature-less Cloudscape. Very funny.

And Hans, A birth In The Sky is a creation of absolute wonder. Wow!

This one reminds me of seaweed with its holdfast.

Your last Arizona B&W #243 has a mysterious and very abstract feel Michael. Great play with whites and grays

I love Anchored, Keelin and its association with seaweed. Maybe it is anchored to some …
