Michael LerchParticipantThis one does the rare satisfying the technical needs of whats going as well as providing an esthetically pleasing perspective upside down . So I post it upside down

Michael LerchParticipantThis one is a bit less strange seen upside down so I leave it as shot.

Michael LerchParticipantBelow has already been flipped. I prefer the upside down perspective.

Michael LerchParticipantLacunosus and Asperitas sometimes get confused.. They can co-exist during an event. I caught the bully wind pushing around some lacunosus behind my back, but I don’t stay still long and caught the wind rolling the cloud there low right of center

Michael LerchParticipantThis one and the one above are pretty cool upside down. The gain of depth is incredible and turns it into a whole different world.

Finally, yesterday.

March 30, 2025 at 5:40 am #640345
Michael LerchParticipantAhhh good for you Ruth! The winds that create Asperitas also uplift our selves.
My favorite version of this Asperitas

Michael LerchParticipantRuth, It cooled off today even rained on and off thru out the the afternoon…I think the high temp was 63f or so..going down to 48 tonite..brrrr

April 6, 2025 at 5:09 am #641085
Michael LerchParticipantThe below is already upside down. The rite-side up is just too much work. The shot wasn’t quite overhead but there was a wave rolling the clouds from lower center right to mid left center going on there with a canopy of cloud already weakened by blasts of wind.

Wishing for more time.

April 25, 2025 at 4:30 am #642965
Michael LerchParticipantThis one needs to be made as big as you can before it pixelates and then turned upside down so you can not make up your mind with which perspective is better ,like me. You have to see it upside down to re-appreciate it as right side up. A blast of air hitting the stratus tearing at the edges, warping the stratus into arcs and scattered fractus

Ruth QuistParticipantMichael, #104 very interesting formation. I need to do more telephoto.
Wide Load

-
May 15, 2025 at 4:55 am #645091
Michael LerchParticipantThanks Ruth. Yes not often you see such a varied cloudscape and true, it took a telephoto zoom lens to get it. Like your above shot it was near the edge of an Asperitas event. But the lens framed it all into nice little composition. Upside down shows how thin it can be

Thinking of you Michael.

-
June 16, 2025 at 7:22 am #648622
Michael LerchParticipantYes Ruth, Low angle sun asperitas is always a hoot. Thanks for your thoughts.109 ,again, is possible thanks to zoom telephoto lens . This one goes up to 300mm fl so its like sticking it right in their business.

Michael LerchParticipantIm leaving this one upside down. It succeeds in that universe. In our Universe it’s a grade C. It’s miles in dimension on that shot. The width is an easy 3miles and the height over a mile
BTW..the shot was taken after the sun had set , and thus was the only shot attempted..but Asperitas that late suggests normal cloud making not in effect

Michael LerchParticipantHans you captured some soft lighting giving the asperitus a glow.Cool shot! Yeaa Ruth, asperitus always seems to be in a hurry.

Michael LerchParticipantThe Eye of The Asperitas..its everywhere Hans….I think it wants its own holiday..It wants to know who has been naughty like the ICE agents and who has been nice like the rest of the world. Its keeping a list.
Arizona Asperitas#121

-
August 21, 2025 at 10:37 pm #655604
Hans StockerParticipantToo bad, Michael, that the eye had to watch so many bad things. The list gets longer.
