ParticipantMichael started this topic as a tribute to the CAS cloud, Asperitas. Now volume 4 has its 100 posts, so this is the moment to start volume 5. Ruth had the Last Word in volume 4 while Michael is the most frequent contributor to this topic. Arizona offers good conditions to spot asperitas I suppose.
Here is one from an older series of mine captured in France. It is like continually doing the wave in this topic.

ParticipantRuth, We don’t get a lot of clouds but when we do, Asperitas is usually included in the hurly burly that makes it over the California mountains and into our deserts.

ParticipantHans, once again thanks for your encouragement. Asperitas has a big learning curve for me. Close Up is reminding me of a sea shell. Super shot.
Michael, you take the lead on this thread. There must be a good way to read this cloud formation. They love you.

ParticipantRuth, Yes, itz all about lighting as to the weight of the picture. Contrast helps but to fill the clouds with light, goes back to Turner. Your last shot is some serious cloud. Im always taken by the passing silent drama of Asperitas.
Below is about how far I should go with low contrast and still see the asperitas

ParticipantRuth..the thing is as that shot as seen on my computer screen and my file there isn’t any purplish especially on the left side. I’ve noticed this about the new hosting..photos gain saturation and maybe some contrast when transition to here..Not a big problem but every now & then you or some one sees reds or purples where there isn’t supposed to be any noticeable. .but you are rite.
