ParticipantThe first volume filled up quick! I’m willing to keep going with a 2nd volume of photographs and input on the Asperitas Cloud.
Here is a recent photo of Asperitas Light and Medium

ParticipantAnd I am trying to catch up with you Michael. Unfortunately Keelin is still waiting for an asperitas event. Apparently the circumstances in California are less favorable for asperitas than in Arizona?
Not a recent one…

ParticipantWhile I do indeed hunger for locally grown servings of Asperitas, I’m more than happy to feast on the offerings presented here. And I see Volume 2 begins with a doubly delicious appetizer from the two of you. Yum!

ParticipantThank you Keelin. It has been already four months since my last event, but I still have plenty of pictures of asperitas. One can say it is a rather photogenic kind of cloud.

ParticipantSometimes Asperitas reminds me of VanGogh’s style of painting,
My hard drive decided to die. 8 years old. That is when I found out my back up wasn’t backing up any of my photos. So the broke hard drive is off to a data recovery session first thing Monday; 2 years of photos and documents and what not . So any pics I post here are new, a couple of days old at best. And yes, there was a Asperitas event just yesterday. Heres a shot from it.

ParticipantOh Micheal, I hope the data recovery is successful for you and all your photos can be saved (documents too, of course). Evidently, you are still looking up ~~ and we remain the lucky beneficiaries of that! I never tire of seeing the waves of Asperitas that you and Hans post here.

ParticipantThat´s bad news Michael, but with what I know about this, it should be possible to recover most or maybe all of the data. I truly hope so for you. Fingers crossed! It reminds me of some needed organization of my own backup. My external backup is not op to date at this moment, so my most recent pictures are at some risk knowing my hard drive is making disturbing sounds sometimes.

ParticipantLove your French Asperitas, Hans! You can probably guess what it reminds me of. As for the image following it, I can’t help but think of a charcoaled artist’s paper that has seen one of those soft, kneaded erasers go tumbling across it. The resulting illusion of texture is fantastic. I like this one very much.

ParticipantGood luck indeed with data recovery. I can add that when my laptop went in for malware removal recently, I took the advice to replace the hard drive with SSD – solid state drive; never a moment of regret, its umpteen times faster.

ParticipantThe Datat Recovery people did an excellent job. They’re from Wales, well at least the wife is. She (as secretary/receptionist) had me believing she is from down under. Then she demonstrated some welsh language(Gaelic) . Anyway..everything saved. Heres a shot from November

Wales was in today’s Times, UK with this picture of an F-15E Strike Eagle. I expect the photographer had gone up the mountain for some quiet cloudspotting. Note in the above link he says the plane was NOT upside down.
Perhaps your data recovery person came from

Being half Welsh I enjoy taking an anglicised stab at saying that.

ParticipantSmall world…I was the production planner for the F15 Large Wire Harnesses before I retired from Boeing..The receptionist at the data recovery business told me that Welsh or gaelic is mandatory in schools. They will not let their language be lost to modern times..2 extra letters in their alphabet and incredibly long words as pointed out makes me wonder tho.

This is a frame from a time-lapse I produced, taken 22 June 2015 at Lauderdale, Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Video here: https://vimeo.com/213389903
Looks like some Stratocumulus, Asperitas, Mammatus with Lenticular?
Cheers

ParticipantHans, Asperitas remains the most “opportune” for photographing imho. There is so much fun to be had with asperitas.. It really doesn’t fit in to any cliche or stereotype way of presenting it. Because its ” new” we are left to photograph the phenomena anyway we creatively decide!
