150-years of the BBC’s shipping forecast

From BBC’s Weather Watchers website comes this lovely piece of news. The famous BBC Shipping Forecast broadcast every evening on BBC’s Radio 4 station is now 15o years old as of today (24th August 2017).

An excellent map is included in the brief yet succinct article displaying all the locations of the forecast locations.
I listen to it every night and always think of the fishermen, fisherwomen and sea farers hoping always they will arrive at their port safe and well and that loved ones are comforted that no harm or loss of life has befallen.
I maybe be a bit fanciful here but the forecast is something like a mantra and puts the nation to bed at night.
