Manuela Rettweiler, member 42844, recently contacted us about a ‘fire’ in the North tower of Cologne Cathedral. Apparently some passers-by saw what they thought was smoke coming from the tower and alerted the emergency services. Luckily, it was a false alarm – One single very low cloud – obviously with a strong liking for this beautiful gothic cathedral – had clung to the tower creating the impression of smoke coming out of it. Some of the firemen climbed up the tower, made sure that there really was no fire and gave the all-clear.
