I still find the new interface enigmatic and am not even sure how I got here. However, ‘H’ is now for ‘hygge’, my new username which CAS have facilitated. It is a wide-ranging Danish word from the original Norwegian for well-being. In the link below it says ‘There is nothing more hygge than … discussing the big and small things in life’. As for pronunciation, it does not rhyme with Miss Piggy, or with Huggy Bear – see link:

My thanks to Gini for the chaser, to Airhead58 for the pathfinder profile. My apologies for my blank profile; it has nothing to do with CAS and everything to do with internet ID – once bitten…

Hiya hooga, welcome back! So glad you didn’t fall overboard in transition. Looking forward to more fascinating links from your extensive web searches.

Hi Hygge. Followed your link and I think cloud watching definitely falls into the category of hygge – or is it hooga?
Helen – How did you get your photo onto your profile? I’ve looked and looked and can’t see anything on the profile to enable me to do it. It’s probably easy when you know how.

Oh dear I have tried to replicate the process but cannot. I think I clicked on my name at top right (once logged in) and then clicked on Profile, but now my Profile doesn’t even come up so at this moment I’m unable to help you Airhead. I’ll keep trying till someone more computer savvy intervenes. Good luck!

I’ve the same trouble. Can’t see any way of changing anything in my profile. I think something is broken.

I slept on it overnight but it’s still disabled this morning for me too Graham.

Actually, this is because we’ve had to turn off the ability for users to edit their profile data. The problem was that when users changed the name in their profile in order to choose how they appeared on the forum, the system was making a change to their actual membership name, rather than just the forum ‘nickname’. We need users’ actual membership names to remain unchanged, and just let them choose their publicly-visible nickname. It is something that we are going to have fixed by our developer – hopefully in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, Airhead58, if you email us the image you want to have for your profile to membership@cloudappreciationsociety.org, we will add it manually.
Sorry that we’ve had to disable the profile editing temporarily. Hopefully, it will be back in place soon!

Thanks for the update Gavin. You’ve actually called my bluff because I don’t know what photo I want to use! Tell you what. Give me two weeks to make up my mind and then I will try out the new fix. But thanks for the offer anyway. Cheers.

I’d like to change my profile nickname to FlyByWire, just as it was in the old forum.
The most recent pic of me is this one:
But also tempted to use this as my profile pic:
Or one of my best ever gliding shots:
And many more tempting ones too… I’ll have to sleep on it….

Almost a year since I boarded the CAS New Forum.
I was intrigued this morning to hear a discussion of my new username ‘hygge’. If you really want to know how to pronounce it, it is spoken by a Dane in this link. I only heard the last few minutes of the item which finished around 10.32:
