Jennifer Ladd (Member 66,576) watched as a turbulent sky morphed over the process of a few hours in the strong winds above Longmont, Colorado, US. This Stratocumulus cloud was likely churned by the influence of a nearby storm system. The bumpy patches in the lower middle are cloud features known as mamma, which hang from a cloud layer in which pockets of air are sinking. ‘I live in New England,’ said Jennifer, ‘so it lifted my spirits to be out beneath this huge sky and such powerful, roiling clouds.’
