Jenna Pallio (Member 64,988), an artist based in Milan, Italy, created a series of cloud images on wooden panels using oil paint, gold leaf, and smoke. This is Cloud 2, and it depicts a dense Cumulus congestus formation. Jenna often uses a ‘removal technique’ in her art, coating a surface with a material and creating the image by carefully removing parts. In an interview, she described her technique as ‘pulling away in order to create; going backwards in order to capture something familiar’. She feels the process reflects how memory functions in our lives: ‘while certain memories disintegrate, it is the fragments that remain.’
