Cloud Appreciation Day 2025 was

Friday September 12th

when cloudspotters contributed their skies to the Memory Cloud Atlas

Cloud Appreciation Day, which happens each year on the second Friday in September, is when people all around the world look up to appreciate the beauty of the clouds and contribute a photo of their sky to our Memory Cloud Atlas.

When they add their photo to the Atlas, contributors say how the sky this day makes them feel. The Memory Cloud Atlas is open for contributions only on Cloud Appreciation Day itself. It then remains as an online resource for anyone who wants to explore the skies of the world. You can see the entries on the 2025 Memory Cloud Atlas, as well as those in the Atlas Archives from 2024, 2023, and 2022. The Atlas exists as an enduring and unifying record of people coming together from different locations and cultures in appreciation of our shared atmosphere, the most dynamic, evocative and poetic of nature’s displays.

RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS

Our Cloud Appreciation Pack includes free lesson plans, resources and activities for schools and homeschools. We encouraged teachers to use the pack of resources to make Cloud Appreciation Day on Friday September 13th the focus of a week of lessons about the sky and clouds. The Atlas can be used as a resource to show young cloudspotters skies on the day all across the world.
