Thanks much! I’ve been waiting to see one of these for years! Next I might post the painting I intend to do of this one. Stay tuned.

Yes, I’d agree. The right side of the cloud looks to me like a Kelvin-Helmholtz formation (now known officially as fluctus). Do post your painting here when it’s finished!

Thank you for verifying my sighting, Gavin. It is a good thing I wasn’t driving that day, as I might have bumped into a tree, I got so excited. Actually there were two of these Kelvin-Helmholst formations in the sky that day. I will certainly post my painting here when it is done. I have painted many cloud paintings over the years, so this selection from my website might be a teaser for you of paintings to come!

The excitement is understandable, Gainor. You were indeed lucky! These K-H formations are such a tease. By the time one parks the car, they’re already waving bye-bye as in the image below, caught just a couple of days ago. I look forward to seeing your painting — a great way to continue celebrating your sighting.

Yes, working on the preliminary stuff to get my painting underway. Canvas ordered a few minutes ago and I thought it appropriate to get special Fibonacci dimensions which makes my canvas a Golden Rectangle. Happy stuff for happy stuff in the sky! Lovely photo you posted! Thanks.

That’s a great painting, Gainor! It’s so nice to see such a specific and special formation depicted in a painting. Congratulations on a fantastic end result.

Thank you so much, Gavin. Everyone of my friends and students who see my painting in my studio love this one too. It is rather unusual for me to paint a landscape like this these days, although I have done many, and many cloud paintings, too. This one seems to grab people. I’m not sure why, but I’ll take the compliments!

Oddly, some of these same people are sure they have seen the K-H cloud in the days after they see my painting. How weird is that?

Thanks again, and thanks for putting the CAS together for us cloud maniacs!

      Gainor
