Patricia L KeelinParticipantBlack & White VIII was such a splendid volume, wrapping up with Michael’s beautiful Arizona Mammatus and Hans’s elegant Stealth Flight, it looks like we slept right past the 100 post mark! Eager to see what we dream up next. What do you suppose sheep count as they’re falling asleep?
Sheep Asleep -
February 23, 2018 at 12:35 pm #260242
Hans StockerParticipantHaha, now it was my moment of gainy eyes and foggy brain here. Nice opening for Volume IX Keelin. Good question what sheep count. They are asleep now, so maybe you can wake them up to ask them. Great wooly picture anyway.

Michael LerchParticipantSheep Count Clouds! Every one knows that!, Clouds! Just ask one. It will tell you, Clouds!
Arizona Lily Pads

-
February 24, 2018 at 12:29 pm #260392
Hans StockerParticipantI did asked one as you suggested Michael and it agreed with a decided baa yea. So evident!
Altostratus might be boring and featureless, but it can also surprise.

-
February 24, 2018 at 4:19 pm #260413
Patricia L KeelinParticipantAh! Of course, it’s clouds! Although I’d not like to fall asleep like a sheep and miss those Arizona Lily Pads or Translucidus #2. Then again, you never know what clouds will morph into as dreaming begins…

Heres some “experimental” dupicatus also. The “white” is actually higher altostratus.

February 28, 2018 at 10:07 am #260940
Hans StockerParticipantCool stuff indeed Michael these layers and what they do in B&W. Nice experiment too.

-
February 28, 2018 at 3:08 pm #260993
Patricia L KeelinParticipantCooler than cool, you two! Great textures and depth, also some impressionistic qualities which come alive so well in B&W. Adding to the duplicatus collection…

March 2, 2018 at 10:31 am #261247
Hans StockerParticipantIndeed it seems to be the quality of B&W to make duplicatus alive in a surprising way, Keelin. Like your former untitled one is too! In my opinion they are not that easy to discover. Always fun to find a good example like yours and Michael’s cirrocumulus. Love the fine structure of the last one.
I had to search for one in my archive and found this.

Michael LerchParticipantNice filling of the blank canvas! Lots of neat movements!
Arizona B&W Black and White

-
March 6, 2018 at 11:27 am #261838
Hans StockerParticipantYes, neat movements that’s what attracted me in Directonally Challenged by Keelin and my own former one.
Arizona B&W Black ans White comes right from an art gallery Michael. Silver background under and contrasting dots in front.

A glowing contrail lost in the B&W thread?
-
March 6, 2018 at 6:38 pm #261910
Patricia L KeelinParticipantA fine balance and brilliant study in contrast, Michael! Those silver tones you continue to create are most amazing.
And what mischief are you up to, Hans, with your Glowing Contrail? You have offered us a masterpiece worthy of Dali! I hope we will see more of these friendly figurals, especially that one in the upper right corner who appears to be casting some spell with her magic wand. I do wonder what she’s up to… I see she’s got the crocodile strolling upright, exiting stage left. Off to cross the pond perhaps?
Presto! -
March 8, 2018 at 11:24 am #262163
Hans StockerParticipantI feel flattered by the comparison with Dali, Keelin. Dank je wel! And with your interpretations you made me look differently to my own picture. An eye opening experience as well. I like it.
With your Presto! the eye is lead somewhat left to the center to what seems to be a hole or cavity soon to be covered by what’s hanging above. Very dynamic, I’d say.

Another Cavity
-
March 9, 2018 at 1:58 am #262250
Patricia L KeelinParticipant‘Another Cavity’ is deep with mystery, Hans. Perhaps this Faerie With A Torchlight can encourage us to explore?

-
March 9, 2018 at 5:24 pm #262337
Hans StockerParticipantHa, a beautiful Faerie With A Torchlight and very helpful indeed while spelunking, Keelin.

March 12, 2018 at 11:06 am #262743
Hans StockerParticipantNice lenticular composition in Arizona B&W #78 Michael. Your former one (fro which you used the same number #78) made me think of Directionally Challenged by Keelin. This title has stuck in my mind for its ingenious title and every time I see undulations in different directions it pops up.

And Pop!
-
March 13, 2018 at 1:33 am #262826
Patricia L KeelinParticipantLove the light and shadow in you images above, Hans. “And Pop!”, has almost the feeling of opposing tides.
And Michael, your most recent image is so deliciously surreal, I keep going back for another taste of it.
Found this one in the archives, and immediately the memory of Michael’s cleverly titled Burned Eggs (Colour Thread Volume II) made me smile again. The image below is not so colorful (but also not so burnt!). Bon appétit, mes amis!

-
March 16, 2018 at 6:29 pm #263359
Patricia L KeelinParticipantPerfectly poached, Hans! And it looks like Michael has whipped up something delicious for us as well with Arizona B&W #25.
I love the feeling Tranquility brings. And after a calm breath, is it time for more action? The drama of the dance below is quite enough I think. No animals were injured in the making of this image.

Michael LerchParticipantAltocumulus floccus Virga Hans, it was like a whole wave swept up from the south west.Always amazing.
Another bit of fun with the undulatus. The multi directions indicate the crazy winds as systems sweep over Arizona.

-
March 25, 2018 at 4:00 pm #264803
Hans StockerParticipantYes Michael, crazy winds resulting in a Directionally Challenged scenery, to quote Keelin. I love those pictures. This one and the former.
So the former is also altocumulus floccus Virga which I misjudged for stratiformis? I must confess I didn’t give it much of a thought having found a straightforward alliteration. Good to know nevertheless.

Soft Duplicatus

March 25, 2018 at 5:25 pm #264811
Patricia L KeelinParticipantHard to know what she is up to, Ms. Duplicatus below. Off to some event wearing a fancy necklace? Wish I could see the rest of her outfit. Michael and Hans, you might have captured parts of it above with your beautifully textured images. Winds are ever so fashion forward — and backward, apparently.

Patricia L KeelinParticipantHope the skies above, wherever you ventured, kept you looking up, Hans. Your Mixed image looks as if someone skied off into a pristine snow bank – beautiful!, while Michael’s Arizona #87 has a more earthy, wonderfully gooey look, which I like as well – and a great contrast to the serenely stacked lennies in #93.
I am on high alert for the possible arrival of this…
