This is a new part of the Cloud Appreciation Society website, which is intended as supporting pages to our pocket cloud book, The Cloud Collector’s Handbook. You can see the images from the handbook up large here by selecting the page number from the menu in the top right, or by searching under the cloud name.

We hope that these pages will also serve as a general reference for visitors who want to learn what the different cloud types look like, by showing clear examples of each sort. You can browse the cloud classifications represented here by clicking on the section headers in the orange menu above.

We are still working on these pages. For instance, we hope to add some simple excerpts from the Handbook to each image, listing some important features to help identify the cloud type. If you think that we have made any errors in the classifications or page layouts, or if you have any suggestions for how we could improve things, do please email us.

To have a look around, you can always browse the images by looking under the different categories
(which are normally accessed from the orange menu at the top of the page):

The 10 Main Cloud Types
Selected Species and Varieties of Cloud
Accessory Clouds and Supplementary Features
Other Clouds
Some Optical Effects produced by Clouds
