Great dramatic shot, Suzanne from the airplane window travelling to Amsterdam in the Netherlands! Hope that there wasn’t too much wind turbulance from the storm as you passed by. Those upper parts of the anvil and cumulonimbus clouds certain reach great heights, sometimes to the lowest levels of the stratosphere depending on the wind currents and consist mainly of ice crystals, due to the freezing temperatures of the atmosphere up there.
