YES, Carolyn, and you could even say there was a face looking in from the right (lower lip pushed forward)…don’t you think?

Thanks very much for your kind comments. Shortly after I took the photo the Sun, which was illuminating the foreground, disappeared.

Apart from being a beautiful noctilucent display, Alan, I can also see a wonderfully delicate resemblance of an animals head within the display :D

It looks like a Mississippi Mesquito, that would be the state bird… haha… cool shot Alan.

Alan says:
Thank you all for your kind comments. It was the eagle-eyed Tracey Scott who spotted the 'bug' first and brought it to my attention.
-
Alex says:
Great pic. Love the bug. Thats about the size of the bugs we get here in Thailand lol

Sharon says:
I hope that's a friendly bug. It must be one of those night flying varieties that are only rarely seen.

What a sad conclusion…Out of the TCAS

Fish112 says:
Unless there is a sun both behind and in front of the moon here, this is photoshopped. There's no way there could be a full moon and a glow emanating from behind it like that. Nice way to liven up an otherwise not-that-fun photo of clouds at night, though…
-
bryan says:
to me it seems obvious that you inserted the moon into this pic, but, you did a really good job of, nice entry….
-
Carolyn, UK says:
A hauntingly atmospheric picture, thanks Alan ;-0
How do you get the moon so clear? -
Ginnie Powell, Austin, Texas, says:
Yes, the mooon image is amazing! Do you use a special filter?
-
Rémi Filastò, Firenze says:
The moon is incredibly clear and bright! What kind of camera do you have?

Nice shot Alan! I have seen these only a few times and have difficulty capturing the colour I can see with my own eyes – frustrating!
No Beate – I don’t think conditions are more favourable in Scotland. Regards Alan.
Strong colouring, Alan! Do you get this especially in Scotland?
