Beautiful and ethereal clouds. Love this photo.
Really interesting photo! Looks like rain coming out of the clouds, with the sun shining on it, creating the beautiful rainbow colours! Rebecca Hill, Canberra, Australia
Thank you Ginnie and Rebecca. To be clear: it may look like a rainbow, but it is surely a close-up of a peculiar sundog. What struck me were the distinct features of the curling clouds lighting up in the also distinct colors of the spectrum of a sundog. I was quite amazed by the way the sundog developped until it gradually vanished. I am happy to have had my camera by hand!

Very dramatic sky, Christina! The dark sky in the distance, with the sun shining on it certainly looks threatening, already to produce an afternoon late-autumn thunderstorm soon and highlights the long, straight city streets and business district in the foreground! Hope that you weren’t caught out when the storm did eventually come! Run for cover! Rebecca Hill, Canberra, Australia
Christina, thanks for this dramatic shot!
I like the glowering skies, all moody and forbidding, and prophetic of heavy rain to come. I also like the stark of the sunlight, soon to come to end, in the foreground.
We had something like this here in Yate, south Gloucestershire, UK,yesterday. Huge mammatus clouds which delivered big rain. The skies were as dark as the one your photo portrayed.
A nice monochrome serene reflection of the beautiful mountain scenery, mist and sunset at the end of another long day! What will tomorrow bring? Rebecca Hill, Canberra, Australia
Yes, I can definitely see the head in the clouds in this picture! Looks like the head is a bit surprised and staring straight ahead at whatever is going on at the time. Rebecca Hill, Canberra, Australia
