JFI A roll cloud (volutus), differs from a shelf cloud as it is completely detached from other cloud features and known as a soliton, The most famous being The Morning Glory cloud.

I think, and I stand to be corrected on this, the name Shelf Cloud is another term for Roll Cloud.
