This is an example of:
And also Kelvin-Helmholtz!
Gives me some science-fiction feeling…
Yes K.Helmholtz cloud..I saw it too, beautiful :)
Ditto the K-H potential. In addition, might not the dark lower lennie be strato-cumulus.
A celestial jellyfish maybe? Very dramatic image.
Also very threatening to me. And that suddenly reminded me : Isn't it a long time since someone sent a photo of ASPERATUS.
Have those clouds returned to another universe just as we were about to have them accepted as a new kind of clouds ??? Or is it only me who have been unobservant???

Fantastic, picture, Beth: composition, clouds and optical effects in the same lot. Great to share it.
As ever from you, Mike, a wondrous shot.
Your photo has done true justice to the marvellous cloud spectacle. Nothing like this in Yate, south Gloucestershire where it is dull, dark and miserable, sorry to report.
Thanks for this viewing.
Wonderful jaw dropping spectacle, Abbie. What a sight to witness first hand, eh?!?!
Dan, this is a top class photo. Well done. This is perfection!
Thank you so much for the sharing of this marvellous spectacle.
